2001—02 Annual Report

At the Annual Reports Awards conducted by the Institute of Public Administration Australia, the Commission received recognition for its 2001—02 Annual Report as joint Runner-Up (with the Department of Finance and Administration) in the Financial Management and Accountability Act category of reports.

The judges commented that expectations about reporting by central agencies are high and it is often challenging for them to demonstrate that those expectations are being met. The judges noted in particular the efforts the Commission and DoFA had made to report on their activities at the centre of government and to be transparent about current trends in public sector management. The Commission’s report recognised particularly for being transparent and up-front about future challenges, for its use of performance indicators and the quality of its narrative, and for its frankness.

The judges also complimented the Commissioner’s State of the Service Report noting that its coverage is being refined and extended and that the Report is becoming an increasingly valuable record of developments in public sector management.
