Legal advice and scrutiny

During the year, internal legal advice was supplemented by advice obtained from external legal sources, including the Australian Government Solicitor. The Commission’s internal legal adviser is the contact point for Freedom of Information and privacy matters (see Appendix B).

Work undertaken by Senate Committees–Regulations and Ordinances, Finance and Public Administration, Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit–(on topics such as IT, recruitment and training) and the ANAO (performance audits such as benchmarking) that are relevant to the role of the Commission is discussed under Outputs 1 and 2.
