Knowledge Management Award–2003

The Commission was awarded a Bronze medal in the technical category of the ACT 2003 Knowledge Management Awards. The award was presented to the Commission in recognition of its Corporate Intranet Portal, Plumtree

The ACT Knowledge Management Awards are presented to public sector organisations that have achieved significant improvements through knowledge projects to improve business capability.

Improvements may include organisational performance, financial savings, service improvement, business growth, customer satisfaction and partnership satisfaction.

The Commission’s Plumtree Portal provides Commission staff with a range of valuable services including:

  • sites to support small team collaboration on projects or to deliver an employee services application to the entire organisation
  • knowledge directories for organizing content from web sites, document databases and file systems and for ensuring they are kept up-to-date
  • personalised pages that can highlight deadlines across projects, the latest resources added to a knowledge directory and personal productivity services such as the user’s e-mail.

In applying for the award the Commission noted that ‘the portal has provided the Commission with a credible intranet service, which is fundamental to our organisational capability. It is simple to operate and maintain and is flexible in that it can cover a wide range of different activities. Staff acceptance has been good–they understand how to access important documents they need to do their work or to find out more about their rights and duties as employees of the Commission.’
