Output 2: Leadership, learning and development services
Output 2 is drawn from the following elements of the Public Service Commissioners statutory role, listed in section 41 of PS Act, to:
- co-ordinate and support APS-wide training and career development
- contribute to and foster leadership in the APS.
Activities undertaken by the Commission which support Output 2 include:
- provision of senior executive leadership development activities
- design, development and delivery of relevant SES and non-SES Service-wide development opportunities.
Significant achievements for the Commission in 200304 were:
- development of the Integrated Leadership System
- contribution to and consolidation of the Australian and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG)
- increased participation in Commission programs, particularly in the Regions
- 97% of APS agencies participating in Commission leadership, learning and development promotional activities with substantial participation by some non-APS agencies, e.g. Australian Federal Police, Health Insurance Commission, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation
- 87% of agencies rating the assistance provided by the Commission in promoting and developing leadership within that agency from moderate to very high (48% rated this assistance as high or very high)
- continued achievement of above 90% satisfaction rating for program content evaluation.
Overall the demand for the Commissions leadership, learning and development services continued to grow through 200304 in terms of development programs, predominantly in the areas of APS 16 development, and the provision of agency-specific development programs through the Commissions in-house Consultancy Services team.
The total price for Output 2 for 200304 was $12.614m.
