I have been employed in the APS since joining the ABCC (Australian Building & Construction Commission) on 10 August 2004 originally as an Investigator. My current role is as Agency Security Adviser.  Prior to staring with the ABCC I had approximately 10 years experience with Victoria Police reaching the substantive rank of Detective Senior Constable. At the time of my resignation from Victoria Police I worked at the Organised Crime Squad, Victoria Police Crime Department.

Before joining the police force, I worked in the Building Industry as a qualified Carpenter & Joiner for approximately seven years and I have also worked in Real Estate sales and property management.

I came from Echuca which is a Victorian town on the Murray River directly north of Melbourne.  I still call Echuca ‘home’ and visit there when time permits.  I have two children Miah & Xavier who keep me very busy.  My interests outside work  include Football, (especially seeing Carlton beat Collingwood) Golf, Cycling and attending the races having recently become a Victorian Racing Club member.

Having worked in a variety of industries, I think the APS presents great opportunities for Indigenous Australians to "showcase" their talents.  Most people often associate the success of Indigenous Australians with sporting achievements which is fantastic, however outside of this there are a lot of great people doing great work in organisations such as the APS.  Having Indigenous people employed at all levels within the APS only goes towards helping expose the many diverse backgrounds, experience, talents and expertise that Indigenous people can bring to the workforce.

I joined the IAPSEN to help raise the level of awareness and promote opportunities within my organisation for such people and meet and share experiences with other Indigenous Australians employed within the APS.
