Catherine Lake

My name is Catherine Lake and I am from the Eastern and Central Arrunda descendents of Mpartnwe.  I have been working in Melbourne for over ten years but my home town is Alice Springs, which I try and visit as often as I can.

I have been working in Native Title for a year and a half and my duties include assisting the Members and the administration teams. But the best part of my job is seeing Native Title directed back to the traditional caretakers of this land and working and meeting passionate and interesting people.  And also being privileged to witness important sites and gain valuable knowledge along the way.

The job can be challenging at times but the people I work with are great and I enjoy being part of the team.  I have worked in different fields in the Australian Public Service; including Indigenous Education, Indigenous Employment and Legal Administration and working with Indigenous people from students to elders and a whole variety of other people.

The APS is a great place to work with great work conditions and many different, flexible and exciting fields to work in.
