Canberra IAPSENWEBPAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION: We are in the process of updating this content. Check back soon for updates Craig LeonWelcome. Firstly let me introduce myself. I am of the Worimi nation from Foster on the central coast of New South Wales. I have lived and worked in many Indigenous communities throughout far North Queensland, which has instilled in me a strong sense of identity and pride. My life experiences have grounded me in community values, provided my motivation to join the APS, and driven my personal goal to influence change for the betterment of our mob. I joined the APS via the former ATSIC in 1998 through a cadetship to complete my undergraduate degree. My time in ATSIC up to Machinery of Government (MoG) changes in July 2004 was great. I gained valuable experience in a number of roles - corporate (Workplace Relations), national programs (CDEP), regional offices (Adelaide and Roma) and back to corporate in National Office (Learning and Development). Following the closure of ATSIS I spent three years in DEWR where I had responsibility for a number of Indigenous specific recruitment, retention and development initiatives. I enjoyed a number of successes in this role and in doing so further developed my understanding and appreciation of how to maximise outcomes for Indigenous employees in the APS. Now with FaHCSIA I am working in Indigenous Housing in a role new but still very much driven by my core desire to influence change. As Chair of the ACT IAPSEN I feel very privileged and honoured to be your representative. I take pride in presenting well thought out solutions and not some half baked idea. People who know me will know I value the opinions of others and will never profess to be the source of all knowledge. I like to work alongside people not over people. My commitment to IAPSEN will be 100%. |
