Gail Laughton-Gibbs

Gail LaughtonMy name is Gail Laughton-Gibbs.  I am originally from Alice Springs, and have strong ties to the Arnrente and Luritja people of Central Australia.  I have lived in Darwin for the last twenty three years and I am likely to remain here as I like the weather and the lifestyle.

I am currently working with Centrelink Area North Australia, as the  Indigenous Services Manager and have the responsibility to oversight Centrelink’s Indigenous Servicing Strategies.    This is specifically focused on ensuring consistency in the delivery of services to Indigenous customers throughout the Northern Territory and the Kimberley Regions and in developing the Centrelink service framework into these regions.  I have been with Centrelink for six years.

I have worked in Indigenous services for over thirty years both in the APS and private sector.  During this time I have worked in the field, both remote and urban, part of this time as a vocational officer with the Commonwealth department of employment and education both in the NT and NSW.   I have managed and provided leadership to remote servicing teams and State based Indigenous servicing teams.

My role includes building relationships and  working in partnership with Centrelink staff, the Indigenous community and Government agencies to develop and improve service delivery which is responsive to the needs of Indigenous customers and communities.
