Kelleigh Ryan

My name is Kelleigh Ryan

On my mothers side I am a descendant of the Kabi Kabi people of South-East Queensland and also a descendant of the South Sea Islander people with connections to the people of the Loyalty Islands. I have a Behavioural Science Degree with a major in Psychology. I began work in the APS for the Australian Bureau of Statistics in a graduate placement program in 2007.

During my graduate placement and in my current position I work on issues influencing Indigenous Identification in Data Collection. What I like best about working for the ABS is the variety in my work and the opportunities I have experienced to date.

As a working mother I value the support and focus on balancing work and family commitments and the willingness to improve cultural awareness within the Bureau and during 2008 I will utilise this support to complete my Psychology Honours program while working part-time.
