Hi – My name is Michelle Schoonbeek and on my mothers side, I am a descendant of the Jagera People. I have lived all my life in Brisbane and absolutely love it. My current role is that of Assistant Business Manager with the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC). One of my motivations for taking on this role was to continue to develop and strengthen the IAPSEN network for Indigenous APS employees in Brisbane. I absolutely love my role at the APSC and I am very proud to be an Indigenous Australian Public Servant. I work with a fabulous team of people in the Brisbane office. Prior to starting with the APSC in May 2007, I worked at the National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT) for 4 fantastic years. Prior to the NNTT I was busy in another very important role called “motherhood”. I have 2 beautiful daughters whom I appreciate every day. I started my career in 1990 as a State Government Trainee undertaking studies in Business Administration. Over the next 9 years I held various administrative positions within State Government Department’s such as the Department of Transport, Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs and Department of Training, Employment and Industrial Relations. I look forward to continuing to support and contribute to a network that adds value for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander APS employees. |
