Whole-of-Government Collaborative Policy
The Public Service Act 1999 requires APS employees to provide frank, honest, comprehensive, accurate and timely advice in implementing government policies. This program provides essential knowledge and skills to uphold this key APS value. Learn what it takes to form appropriate strategies out of the complex policy relationships that exist within the APS accountability framework.
Program overview
- Whole-of-Government work is emerging in the APS to focus on results, strategic agility and innovation through networks governance and management
- Whole-of-Government policy collaboration is challenging work – it needs to be nurtured
- Key elements of effective collaboration include managing the nexus of strategy and tactics and recognising that every Whole-of-Government situation is unique
- To participate in, manage and lead in Whole-of-Government policy collaboration it helps to think of the task as one of managing complex networks
- The aim of this management and leadership effort is to be able to influence policy outcomes in cross-agency, cross-jurisdictional and cross-national policy contexts.
