Recruiting and retaining the right people is a priority for the Australian Public Service. This is a comprehensive program focusing on merit-based assessment, defining what your agency needs and wants, and applying these requirements to selection processes.
Program overview
- examining the relevant legislation and principles guiding APS staff selection and retention
- examining a strategic three staged project approach to recruitment including: identifying a need, attracting quality applicants and selecting the right person
- crafting effective selection practices, building rapport with applicants, and managing judgements and evaluations
- completing the selection process, talking to referees, reaching a recommendation decision, writing a report and giving feedback
