Harassment Contact Officer training
Under the Public Service Act 1999, and federal, state and territory laws, all APS employees must take reasonable steps to prevent workplace discrimination, harassment and bullying. As part of this commitment the APS provides a network of specialist Harassment Contact Officers. This training will assist those new to the role to understand the relevant legal framework for harassment and its application in the contemporary workplace.
Program overview
- defining the important legal framework surrounding discrimination and harassment in the workplace
- learning how these principles apply in the workplace
- discussing the range of formal and informal complaints and resolution processes available
- exploring the roles and responsibilities of contact officers compared with other roles in the workplace
- identifying the tools and support required to carry out your role successfully
- working through how to run a meeting with a contact using appropriate resources, knowledge and interpersonal skills
