Report writing in the APS environment for Executive Levels
Particular skills are required for effective report writing in the Australian Public Service(APS). Report writing in the APS environment identifies those skills and works through the steps and issues to consider when writing a report.
Program overview
- establishing a clear report methodology
- determining the scope, context and purpose of a report
- implementing a review and feedback mechanism
- effectively and strategically communicating with stakeholders
- delivering documents that conform with established Commonwealth style
- using the correct structure and lay out to maximise the impact of the report
- writing meaningful reports that are useful, reader friendly and targeted appropriately
- producing accurate and comprehensive (but concise) documents that deliver clearly defined findings, analysis and recommendations
- developing an executive summary
- analysing existing writing style and identifying strengths and weaknesses in line with the key learnings
