About the program
The Commission’s Graduate Program runs annually, generally between February to January, and includes two six month rotations in different business areas.
Graduates commence as ongoing employees at the APS 3 level, and have an opportunity to advance to the APS 4 level upon successful completion of the program.
All graduate positions are located in Canberra, with relocation assistance available to support interstate relocations.
What the program offers
Our program offers a comprehensive learning and development experience that builds foundational skills for a successful career in the APS.
Your learning will be supported by on-the-job experiences and opportunities to contribute to projects that make a difference to the APS. These are underpinned by a workplace culture that supports team work, collaboration and innovation.
The two six-month rotations are designed to help you develop knowledge and skills across a range of areas within the Commission. These rotations will also support the Commission’s business needs and your individual learning goals.
You will be involved in work that contributes to reforming and reshaping the APS. You will connect with colleagues in other APS agencies, and develop a good understanding of how the broader APS operates.
You will also participate in a formal development program with other graduates from across the APS in the same professional stream. This will help you build networks and challenge your thinking through interactive workshops, simulation exercises and participation in APS-wide graduate events.
How to apply for the program
To apply for a graduate opportunity at the Commission, you will need to apply for the Australian Government Graduate Program. Applications are open from 6 March 2023 to 17 April 2023.
The Australian Government Graduate Program offers graduates job opportunities in a range of professional streams, across a range of Australian Government agencies and departments.
Applying to a stream means you only have to go through the application and selection process once to be considered for all opportunities on offer by Australian Government agencies and departments in that stream.
By applying for one of the streams listed above, you will be considered for a graduate opportunity at the Commission, and any of the other Australian Government departments and agencies participating in that stream.
