The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) has developed the Affirmative Measure Recruitment Hub. It is an innovative suite of end-to-end guidance, tools and resources to support agencies in recruiting First Nations talent. The Affirmative Measure Recruitment Hub is a GovTeams page and community for anyone involved in recruiting and on-boarding First Nations staff. The guidance is designed to supplement and complement agencies' current recruitment processes to help agencies recruit First Nations people in a culturally safe way.
The Hub includes:
- End-to-end guidance on every step of the recruitment process from job design to advertising, assessment and interviewing, merit lists and on-boarding.
- Adaptable templates and resources.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employee Value Proposition: A Tool for Recruiters, which contains templates and suggesting wording, hints and checklists to help agencies create compelling recruitment campaigns specific to the agency and the vacancy.
The Affirmative Measure Recruitment Hub is the result of a collaborative project run by the Inclusion Group at the APSC. The Inclusion Group works with other teams across the APSC, the Australian Public Service (APS) and Commonwealth to create an inclusive public sector workforce for the future. The Hub is the key output of the 6-month cross-agency Affirmative Measure Indigenous Recruitment project involving 23 agencies.
Any Commonwealth employee can request access to the Hub. To request access, email FirstNationsUnit@apsc.gov.au.
