Welcome to 2022 in the APS HR Professional Stream! We hope you’re feeling full of new year motivation and inspiration.
Working in HR, every year is a big year. But we really do have some exciting projects coming up to build HR capability and advance your knowledge and expertise – no matter how long you’ve worked in HR.
Here’s a quick snapshot of just some of the things to look out for.
1. HR Foundational Learning Series
The new HR Foundational Learning Series is now available for all APS1 – EL1s who want to build or refresh their understanding of key HR topics – watch a video of Head of Profession Jacqui Curtis officially launching the modules. Housed on the APS Academy, the eLearning modules will give practitioners a solid foundation in HR, including specific considerations and concerns we encounter in the Australian Public Service.
Comprised of four parts, the products cover:
- HR regulatory frameworks
- HR business partnering basics
- Using HR data
- Recruitment to induction.
You can complete Part 1 now (note you’ll need to register with APS Academy to access the course page). Keep an eye on GovTEAMS for future module release dates and related ‘learning bites’ and activities.
2. HR Information pack
With so much new information and resources becoming available in the past few years, the Stream has developed an HR Information pack to help. Designed to be a central repository of key content, the pack contains links to:
- key planning documents like the APS HR Workforce Strategy and Action Plan
- news and updates like the HR Newsletter, circulars and policy updates
- learning and development resources, including GovTEAMS and the APS Academy
- career opportunities like our mobility bulletins.
When it’s released in March the pack will be shared on the APS HR Professional Network Community SharePoint site. Come join us there if you haven’t already!
3. Immersive learning program
An exciting opportunity to deep-dive and experience practical on-the-job learning, the immersive learning program will take HR professionals and provide them with the opportunity to work in another agency and build their capability.
For 12 weeks participants will immerse themselves into their new area, including shadowing more experienced counterparts, receiving coaching, and performing work. They’ll then return to their home agency to apply what they’ve learned.
Starting with a focus on strategic workforce planning, the pilot program will be launched April-June so keep an eye out for more information on eligibility and how to get involved.
We’ll also be continuing to provide events and masterclasses throughout the year, on topics like diversity, mental health and building workforce analytics capability – so watch this space.
2022 will be as busy as ever, so jump on to the GovTEAMS APS HR Professional Network Community and continue reading our Newsletter to stay abreast of all important news including timely and helpful resources, upcoming training, future events, and more opportunities to grow.
Happy HR-ing!
