Last edition we provided an update on what to expect from the HR Stream in 2022 (if you missed it, read Full Stream ahead!). Now we’re checking out what the other Professional Streams have been up to – and it turns out, their work will benefit us in HR too.
Here’s what the other Streams have to say.
Data Professional Stream
Hello from the Data Profession.
Last year we released the APS Data Capability Framework which can guide agencies as they develop data careers, manage workforce requirements and build data capabilities.
The Framework is still available as a beta version, and we’re encouraging agencies to test and use it in a range of scenarios, like capability evaluations, organisational benchmarking, and learning pathway development.
Getting involved will help us refine the Framework to ensure it’s a relevant and enduring product as we develop the data capabilities across the APS. You can get involved by:
- Sending your feedback to data.profession@abs.gov.au
- Joining our Community of Practice (COP) for those testing the framework. The COP will be used to discuss the Framework’s suitability and fit for purpose and record information for the evaluation of the beta version.
Digital Professional Stream
Hello from the Digital Profession.
The Digital Professional Stream was launched to lift the digital expertise of the APS workforce. We’ve been working to enhance digital career pathways in the APS by creating the APS Career Pathfinder.
The APS Career Pathfinder helps people explore potential digital roles in government. It maps out over 150 digital roles, based on industry and government input. Each role is linked to resources and training to help people who are:
- looking to change or develop their career
- thinking about working in government in digital
- trying to find the digital skills needed for a team.
Explore the beta version of APS Career Pathfinder and provide your feedback.
Career Pathfinder uses the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA), a global standard that defines digital and other ICT related skills. SFIA is used by government agencies, private enterprises and individuals for workforce planning, recruitment and deployment of staff, career path frameworks, skills assessment and more. SFIA is free to use in Australia under the APS Digital Profession’s whole-of-country licence. Find out how you can use SFIA.
