The Australian Public Service (APS) serves a multicultural Australia. The proportion of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) employees working in the APS reflects this. However, they are under-represented at the executive level and in the Senior Executive Service (SES).
The APS is committed to making sure all workplaces:
- provide equal opportunities
- are free from discrimination
- are inclusive of all.
An APS CALD Strategy will present practical ways to
- increase representation and belonging
- uplift cultural capability across the service.
This will create more inclusive workspaces promoting an environment in which all employees can belong.
We want to hear from you
We want employees in the APS to let us know how the APS can better support the employment of CALD employees. We want to know what is and isn’t working. Help the taskforce today by completing our survey. You can also send in practical and de-identified examples of fostering inclusivity for CALD employees, or share your lived experiences. The survey is open until 17 May 2023. Please limit your responses to one page.
Your input will be a critical input into the work of the APSC’s small taskforce dedicated to the APS CALD strategy, which is anticipated to be released in mid 2023 by Minister for the Public Service, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher.
