The Cross Agency Gender Equity Network (CAGEN) is made up of Gender Equity/Women’s Network representatives from across the Australian Public Service (APS). The Network has 20 members from agencies across federal government – but would like to broaden its membership further. To that end, you are invited to join!
CAGEN aims to:
-
drive change towards gender equality across the Australian Public Service (APS), on behalf of its member organisations,
-
advocate the views of its members to key APS leadership forums,
-
support its members to grow and develop their own women’s and gender equality/equity networks, including supporting agencies to start their own networks; and
-
connect staff across agencies to foster networking, relationship building and create a safe forum for the sharing of ideas and experiences.
As well as convening regular meetings and engaging in advocacy and networking, CAGEN conducts an annual project relevant to the pursuit of gender equity in the APS, managed by a working group made up of representatives from member agencies.
In 2023/24 the working group (the CAGEN Remote Work and Travel Working Group) is conducting a research project into how the needs of all genders can best be considered in remote work and remote travel policies*.
You’re invited to:
-
Join the broader CAGEN team, and take part in our meetings and advocacy work,
-
Join the CAGEN working group, and help complete the research project,
-
Share your department/agency’s remote travel and remote work policies, procedures or guidelines with the working group. Note that policies will not be distributed beyond the working group, and no policies will be attributed to the department. The working group will simply be drawing upon existing policies to identify common themes and best-practice. This will be documented in a report (shared with member agencies only) to support the ongoing improvement of internal policies. The report will not be made public.
To nominate, provide information to inform the project, or to discuss any element of the Network and its activities, contact the CAGEN team at cagen@industry.gov.au
*For the purposes of this review, remote work and travel procedures and policies include – but are not limited to any guideline, process, procedure or policy related to working in or traveling to remote or international locations, deployment (at remote locations or at sea), or engagement that otherwise requires an employee being in remote or non-standard locations including third party premises.
