Do you need emerging HR professionals to support your organisation? Have you considered an HR graduate or school leaver? Participating in the Australian Government HR Graduate and School Leaver programs can help build your agency HR capabilities.
The APS HR Professional Stream supports the delivery of two entry level development programs for HR graduates and HR school leavers across the APS. Both programs are currently working to place candidates in over 25 participating agencies in 2024.
Australian Government HR Graduate Program
Working with agencies across the public service, the HR Graduate Program offers a centralised and specialised training program for HR graduates to immerse themselves in their profession and learn from the best. Our networking and learning events will see graduates collaborate to achieve a more cohesive and engaged workforce.
In 2023, we placed 45 graduates in 22 agencies. In 2024, we expect to place over 60 graduates in 21 agencies.
Australian Government HR School Leaver Program
The HR School Leaver Program is a 12-month career development program, supported by a registered training provider, offering recent school leavers the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience while studying a Certificate IV in HR. Our program provides regular networking events with other school leavers and connects participants with program alumni for support and guidance.
In 2023, we placed 32 HR school leavers in 14 agencies. In 2024, we expect to place upwards of 45 school leavers in 21 agencies.
We all play an important role in supporting our entry level program participants. Through these development programs we can encourage growth, fresh ideas and engagement, shaping the future of the APS.
It’s not too late to get on board for 2024!
Currently, both programs have candidates available in the merit pools. If you would like to place either an HR Graduate or School Leaver in your agency in 2024, contact the APS HR Professional Stream to discuss placements.
