APS Statistical Bulletin 2015-16
The APS Statistical Bulletin for 2015-16 was released today by the Australian Public Service Commissioner.
The Statistical Bulletin presents an annual summary of employment data under the Public Service Act 1999 for the preceding financial year. It also includes summary data for the past 15 years.
The Statistical Bulletin is part of the Australian Public Service Commission’s State of the Service series. It has been produced in one form or another since the Australian Public Service was established in 1901.
The Statistical Bulletin contains key APS employee metrics. It also reports on Machinery of Government changes and Public Service Act coverage changes.
The Statistical Bulletin for 2015-16 shows that the structure of APS employment is continuing to change.
In 2015-16 the APS recorded it’s first increase in employment levels since 2012, with 155,771 employees.
The APS workforce is getting older with an average age of 43 and a half years.
The representation of women continues to improve, increasing from 58.4 to 59.0 percent of the APS.
The representation of Indigenous Australian’s has increased from 2.8 to 2.9 percent of the APS.
