The Data Profession is quickly approaching the end of its second year. Many of our multi-agency projects are progressing well, including the Data Capability Framework, which we hope to roll out by the end of 2022. The team is looking forward to reviewing the achievements of the Data Profession over the last 12 months, as well as planning for our third year.
The Data Profession will launch the Member Community Platform (MCP) soon. The MCP will be a central portal where members can engage with other users, leaders, and lovers of data. Members will have access to a resource library; be able to engage with other members on the discussion boards; look for or promote data events such as training or conferences; apply for or advertise short term mobility opportunities; and join and participate in Communities of Practice. The Communities of Practice will cater for data professionals interested in specific sub-disciplines within data, and topics such as the Data Capability Framework and workforce issues. The Data Graduate Network will also have a dedicated community on the MCP.
You will soon be hearing from the Data Profession team about when the MCP will go live and how you can register! You will also hear more information on the membership model. If you’d like more information on the MCP, or if your agency has a resource or event to share, don’t hesitate to contact us at data.profession@abs.gov.au.
We’re also looking forward to launching a Data Leadership course for SES in the coming months. Preparations for that are proceeding apace with the course set to be offered through the APS Academy.
Thinking about your own development, you might like to check out the Data Profession Craft Conversation, hosted by the APS Academy on 23 June. A panel of three data professionals discuss how important ongoing capability development is for those working at all levels and roles across the Australian Public Service.
Finally, we welcome Liz Bolzan as the new Director of the Data Profession team. Liz is looking forward to progressing the Data Profession wide range of initiatives.
