Employee headcount has increased 6.9% since 30 June 2022 to 170,332, of which 151,055 are ongoing employees and 19,277 are non-ongoing employees. The 35–44 age group has the highest proportion of employees at 27.4%, followed closely by the 45–54 age group at 27.1%. The 25–34 age group has the next highest proportion of employees at 20.9%, then 19.0% in the 55 and over age group. The younger age groups of 20–24 and under 20 have proportions of 5.0% and 0.5% respectively.

The next highest number and proportion of employees are VIC at 28,536 (16.8%), NSW at 28,285 (16.6%), and QLD at 21,557 at 12.7%. The other states and territories have lower number and proportions of employees: SA at 11,259 (6.6%), WA at 8,144 (4.8%), TAS at 4,187 (2.5%), the NT at 2,014 (1.2%) and Overseas at 1,407 (0.8%).
