APS Learning Board
The Australian Public Service (APS) Commissioner established the APS Learning Board to lead the transformation of APS-wide capability development, aligned with APS priorities.
The Learning Board will:
- Operationalise the APS L&D Strategy and Action Plan across the APS
- Translate priorities for APS capability development set by Secretaries Board
- Update Secretaries Board on Academy performance, as well as strategic insights and trends relevant to APS performance and capability
- Provide clarity on roles and responsibilities of all contributors to APS capability development, in order to reduce duplication and increase efficiencies across the APS
- Provide direction to the APS Academy and APS Academy Faculty in order to deliver a one-APS approach to building capability.
The Board will meet four times per year, though may hold additional meetings if required. It is chaired by the APS Commissioner and includes the Head of the APS Academy in an ex officio capacity. The Board comprises six Senior Executive Service members of the APS with operational insight and responsibility, and senior non-executive members from outside the APS with industry expertise in L&D and workforce development.
Learning Board membership is invited by the Commissioner for a period of two years. The Head of the APS Academy may recommend the extension of a member’s appointment for up to an additional two years. It is anticipated membership will change over time to reduce the burden on individuals and ensure a diversity of experience in influencing Academy offerings.
