Hello from the Data Profession Team!
This is going to be our last newsletter in this format, but we will continue publishing regular articles of interest on the Members’ Community Platform (MCP). Make sure you join us on the MCP so you don’t miss out on any great Data Profession content, information, updates and events happening across the data landscape. If you would like to suggest any article ideas, let us know by emailing us at data.profession@abs.gov.au.
We are pleased with how quickly the MCP membership is growing as we approach 3000 members from more than 100 agencies across the Commonwealth, state, territory and local governments. Member engagement has been steadily climbing as more members join the platform. The Australian Data Network Community of Practice is currently inviting more members to join. The aim of this Community of Practice is to break down information and data silos to improve data sharing between the Commonwealth and state and territory governments. If this is an area of interest, please check out this community and sign up! Thank you to everyone who has interacted with the platform and encouraged others to join. We hope to see more of you on there soon.
We are thrilled to announce that the production version of the Data Capability Framework’s (DCF) is now available on the MCP and the APSC website. An Excel version of the DCF is exclusively available on the MCP, which is another great reason to join! Also available is the updated User Guide containing a set of case studies which show how other agencies have applied the DCF.
We are in the process of finalising two more products which map to the DCF and will assist in building data capability and identifying career pathways. These products are the Data Literacy Pathways and the APS Data Job Roles. Thank you to all the agencies that have assisted us in creating and collaborating on these products. Once final, they will be made available on both the APSC website and the MCP.
The Graduate Data Network (GDN) is organising the 2023 Australian Government Data Conference which will be a hybrid event held in May next year. This event will also include the inaugural APS Data Awards, to celebrate achievement across the data landscape. These awards will highlight innovative and resourceful solutions implemented in the APS which make a difference to the Australian community, as well as outstanding leadership in improving representation of diverse cohort(s) across the APS data landscape. Information on the APS Data Awards, including award categories and how to nominate, is available on the APSC website.
Thank you for welcoming us into your inbox one last time.
Happy holidays and all the best for the new year!
