The Indigenous Champions Network (ICN) is an advocacy body committed to leading and driving initiatives aimed at effecting meaningful change across the Australian Public Service (APS) for First Nations peoples.
Indigenous Champions are senior representatives from various Australian Government agencies and play a crucial role in driving initiatives and engaging their departments in supporting and progressing the work of the ICN.
The ICN is chaired by the APS Indigenous Champion. The current champion is Katherine Jones PSM, Secretary of the Attorney-General’s Department.
Key priorities
The ICN has three key priorities:
Influencing the adoption and change delivered through the Closing the Gap Priority Reforms, with a particular emphasis on Priority Reform 3
Supporting the Boosting First Nations Employment program
Driving Cultural Safety capability uplift.

The National Indigenous Australians Agency provides secretariat support to the ICN.
