About the APS Bargaining Team
Deputy Commissioner Peter Riordan PSM CF
Peter is an experienced and skilled leader and negotiator who has delivered innovative solutions to complex problems while working effectively with stakeholders and managing risks.
Peter has 40 years’ experience as an industrial relations practitioner and fulfilled senior leadership roles with the Finance Sector Union and the NSW Public Service, including over a decade as the Deputy Secretary, Corporate Services, NSW Education Department.
He has a Master of Business Administration from UTS, Master of Labour Law and Relations from the University of Sydney and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW.
Peter was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2017 and completed a Churchill Fellowship in 1988.
Assistant Commissioner Damien Booth
Damien commenced in the role of Assistant Commissioner, Workplace Relations Bargaining Taskforce in October 2022, after joining the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) in July 2021.
With nearly 20 years experience in the Australian Public Service (APS), Damien has worked in a diverse range of policy and program roles in the employment, human resources, and workplace relations legal-policy arena. Before joining the APSC’s Workplace Relations Group, Damien held senior roles in the Industrial Relations Group in the Attorney-General’s Department, including a two-year term in Enterprise Bargaining Policy. This is in addition to holding key roles in Office of Federal Safety Commissioner and the Fair Entitlements Guarantee program in the former Department of Employment and predecessor agencies.
Damien holds a Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
