The APS HR Profession can help you grow and enhance your career as an HR professional.
It helps you develop your strategic HR capability with:
initiatives and programs
regular communications
activities and events (with both APS and industry leaders as guest speakers or contributors)
access to a huge Australia-wide community of professionals, which you can use for growing your professional network, mentorship, learning and collaboration
We also promote and facilitate temporary and permanent mobility opportunities, so you can move to new areas and gain new skills and expertise.
Since 2019, the APS HR Professional Stream has designed and implemented a range of initiatives to support practitioners to uplift strategic HR capabilities to the APS. From delivering learning content, to partnering with the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI), to defining the APS HR Profession’s Pathways to professionalisation, the work of the APS HR Professional Stream is informed by public, private, domestic and international best practice.
Jacqui Curtis, Chief Operating Officer of the Australian Taxation Office, is the Head of the HR Profession. Jacqui champions strategic APS HR capability and creates strong collaboration across the APS. She is also the sponsor of the APS HR Graduate and School Leaver programs.
The heads of the 3 professions are guided by Australian Public Service Commissioner and Head of Professions, Dr Gordon de Brouwer. The APS Professional Streams and their respective implementation teams collaborate with each other and the APSC to ensure there is alignment across the professions.
