The results from the first Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) agency stocktake survey are in!
The aim of the stocktake was to identify cross-APS opportunities to strengthen First Nations employment and employment of people with disability in the APS. It was sent to approximately 100 APS agencies to complete, with a response rate of 65%.
The stocktake identified specific actions underway that could potentially be leveraged across the APS. The APSC have already reached out to a number of the agencies to discuss how good practices reported in the stocktake can be shared with other agencies.
The results indicated that small and medium agencies need extra support to attract, recruit and retain people with disability and First Nations people. In response to this need, the APSC has launched a GovTeams Discussion Board. This will help agencies connect and share information more easily.
We also identified that smaller agencies are less likely to have contact/liaison officers in place. To help agencies establish Disability Contact Officers, an information session will be held in September.
More information is available here.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the stocktake.
Next steps
The APSC will provide the results of the stocktake to Disability Champions and Indigenous Champions. We will also provide a summary of the findings to the COO Committee, Secretaries Board, the Learning Board and APS Academy.
We will also share the results in a future newsletter.
