In August 2022 nine subject matter experts from five APS agencies came together to form the Affirmative Measures Disability (AMD) Employment Project Team. The Affirmative Measures Disability Employment Project supports delivery of the APS Disability Employment Strategy 2020-25; with the aim of increasing the use of Affirmative measures to recruit people with disability. A suite of guidance, tools and resources will be published in November 2022 as an outcome of the project and housed in the Affirmative Measures Disability Recruitment Hub, on GovTeams.
How has the guidance been developed?
The team built on the findings from Phase 1 of the AMD Project where key issues and potential focus areas for high-impact solutions were identified. Working across three time zones, the cross-agency project team used agile project methodologies to incubate ideas and explore user-centered design to create practical solutions. The team has focused on an iterative approach to designing and delivering solutions. To ensure genuine co-design with our agency users, the team has facilitated user research via the project’s 48 Brains Trust members. Strategic guidance and support has been sought from the project Steering Group at fortnightly meetings.
What will you find in the AMD Hub?
The Hub contains a comprehensive suite of end-to-end recruitment guidance designed to supplement and complement agencies’ current recruitment practices. As well as better practice ideas for agencies to consider across the entire recruitment process, from job design, to assessment and interviews, to candidate care. The content of the AMD Hub will be updated iteratively, and we invite you to test, review, contribute or share your expertise on the guidance.
